We are happy to help you extend the life of your men's braces with the right maintenance. Read here how you can enjoy your braces for as long as possible.
Although braces are not worn next to the skin, it is good to refresh them every now and then to preserve the braces. The frequency is completely to your own liking and depends on how often and in what circumstances the braces are worn. Especially when the braces are worn in dusty conditions or you have perspired, cleaning is a good idea. For a refresh, we recommend a slightly damp cloth with some mild soap, which should be gently wiped over the elastic without stretching the elastic. Rinse the cloth in between and wipe with a cloth that has only been dabbed in water to remove any soap residue from the tires. Then pat the braces dry and then let the braces dry completely in the open air.
Braces cannot be washed in a washing machine. The elastic will then deform and lose elasticity, the clips will rust, and the leather will discolour. It goes without saying that drying in a tumble dryer is also not recommended.
If it is not known what caused the stain or if it appears to be a superficial stain, we recommend dabbing with a slightly damp cloth (water) first. It is important that the cloth is not too damp because this can affect the elasticity of the elastic. If there is an annoying stain such as a grease stain, we recommend using a mild detergent or a small amount of washing-up liquid to dissolve the stain. If this does not help either, soda can be chosen, but this is really a last resort because it can also damage the elastic. Be careful with this and test on a small spot first. In any case, it is important to pat dry all parts that have become damp when removing the stain afterwards.
With leather braces, it is recommended to use maintenance products that have been specially developed for leather when cleaning and maintaining your braces. You can, for example, think of leather soap by applying it carefully with a rubbing brush or sponge.
